Kids: Read-to-me

Birth - Going into Kindergarten

The Read-to-Me program is designed for kids who enjoy stories read to them.

How It Works:

  • Track your reading
  • Turn in your folder to get a prize
    • 10 books = 1 prize
  • Continue reading for bonus pages.
    More bonus pages = more prizes!

Prizes

  • Prize 1: Every Day’s a Sundae ice cream scoop
  • Prize 2: Animal Spinner 
  • Prize 3: Choice of book from our book prize cart and coupon bundle
  • Bonus Pages: raffle entries OR prize ball

Kids: Readers

Incoming Grade 1 - Grade 8

The Readers program is designed for kids who enjoy books read to them and can read on their own.

How It Works:

  • Track your reading
  • Turn in your form to get a prize
    • 6 books OR 6 hours = 1 prize
  • Continue reading for bonus pages.
    More bonus pages = more prizes!

Prizes

  • Prize 1: Every Day’s a Sundae ice cream scoop

  • Prize 3: Choice of book from our book prize cart and coupon bundle
  • Bonus Pages: raffle entries OR prize ball

Teens

Incoming Grade 6 - 12

How It Works:

  • Track your reading
  • Complete a form by reading 3 books OR 6 hours
  • If logging on paper, bring your completed form to the Adult and Teen Services Desk to pick up a prize
  • If logging virtually, head to the Adult and Teen Services Desk and staff will log your prizes via ReadSquared

Prizes:

  • The first 3 completed forms each earn one of the following: 
    • a small prize
    • a book of your choice from the prize cart
    • a raffle ticket toward a grand prize of your choice
  • Additional completed forms earn extra raffle tickets

Adults

Ages 18+

How It Works:

  • Track your reading
  • Complete your form by reading 5 books OR 20 hours 
  • If logging on paper, bring your completed form to the Adult and Teen Services Desk to pick up a prize
  • If logging virtually, head to the Adult and Teen Services Desk and staff will log your prizes via ReadSquared
Prizes
  • First Form Submission: small prize, book off the prize cart, 2 raffle entries
  • Bonus Form Submissions (up to 12 total): raffle entries
  • All prizes must be picked up in person

Downtown scavenger hunt

The scavenger hunt is back! Find the Food Group throughout Downtown Downers Grove to be entered to win a raffle prize of Downtown Dollars! Three adult winners will receive $50 in Downtown Dollars, and five kid winners will receive $10. Want to increase your chances? Find all the businesses to fill out another sheet for an extra entry. Must be a DGPL cardholder to win. 

Pick up a scavenger hunt form at the library! Forms can be found at the information desk in the lobby and at the Kids Room and Adult & Teen Services desks.
