The Access Services Manager is an integral part of our leadership team, serving as the main point person for Access Services, overseeing all cataloging, processing, and acquisitions, as well as setting the pace and direction for the development and implementation of department goals, objectives, and the library’s robust strategic plan. The Access Services Manager should be accustomed to working with staff and patrons from diverse backgrounds and committed to supporting the Downers Grove Public Library with its equity, diversity, and inclusion work.
We are looking for a successful candidate who will:
- Direct and evaluate the plan of service, workflow, and personnel of the department;
- Navigate the complexities of integrated library systems, including cataloging, reporting, and acquisitions;
- Handle the business and financial affairs of the department;
- Provide statistical and usage reports on library collections; and
- Operate as a resource and advisor for the management team on emerging issues and trends concerning the acquisition and description of library resources
Qualifications:
- Expertise typically acquired through completion of a Master’s Degree in Library & Information Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Three years of relevant library and supervisory experience
- Original cataloging experience strongly preferred
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive
- Advanced experience using ILS and RFID software
This year-round, full-time position serves as the person in charge of the Access Services Department. Annual salary is between $66,497 and $74,809, depending on qualifications. Benefits include vacation leave, personal leave, and sick leave, a generous insurance package, and enrollment in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) pension system. The typical schedule for the Access Services Manager will be normal business hours, Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with some evening and weekend hours per year. Downers Grove Public Library is seeking a friendly, enthusiastic Circulation Clerk for our customer-centric Circulation team. We are looking for candidates who:

- are able to physically move heavy materials
- are proactive in problem solving

This year-round, part-time position averages 16 hours per week. The salary is $16.02-$18.02 per hour, depending on qualifications. Hours for this position are Tuesdays 5-9:15 p.m., Wednesdays 5-9:15 p.m.; Fridays 5-9:15 p.m.; and includes Saturday and Sunday rotations of four-hour shifts.

The Downers Grove Public Library is seeking a friendly, customer service-oriented individual with excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a busy environment to join the library’s Adult & Teen Services department as a part-time Library Assistant.
The Adult & Teen Services Library Assistant, an integral part of our Adult & Teen Services team, is primarily responsible for providing reference and readers' advisory service to the public; assisting the public in using the library’s digital and print resources; and assisting librarians with collection development, programming, and other duties.
We are looking for candidates who will:
- Provide excellent reference and readers’ advisory services to adults and teens in a busy environment
- Assist the public in using technology, including downloading ebooks to digital devices
- Manage creation and updates to booklists, resource guides, and displays
- Assist with coordinating book club bags and books
- Assist with out-of-system interlibrary loan requests
- Assist librarians in collection development and maintenance and programming
- Work well as part of a team as well as independently
- Support equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in the workplace
Qualifications:
- High school diploma and some college coursework
- One year of relevant customer service experience
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive
- Experience with ILS software preferred
This is a year-round, part-time position averaging 18 hours per week. The Assistant will be scheduled for Mondays 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m.; Tuesdays 3-9 p.m.; Thursdays 9 a.m.-1 p.m. (except the 3rd Thursday of the month is 9 a.m.-3 p.m.); plus weekend rotations. Hourly pay is $17.84 - $20.07, depending on qualifications and experience. Benefits include vacation leave, personal leave, and sick leave. This is a non-IMRF position.
