Adult & Teen Services Assistant Manager

The Adult & Teen Services Assistant Manager, an integral part of our Adult & Teen Services team and leadership, is primarily responsible for assisting the Manager in the development and implementation of department goals and objectives and the library strategic plan. The Assistant Manager will also assist the Manager in overseeing the plan of service and the workflow of the department.

We are looking for candidates who will:

      • Provide excellent reference and readers’ advisory services to adults and teens in a busy environment
      • Effectively supervise and train staff 
      • Adapt to continuous technological change
      • Manage schedules for the department with flexibility and care
      • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
      • Support equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in the workplace

Qualifications: 

      • Expertise typically acquired through completion of a Master’s Degree in Library & Information Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience
      • Two years of supervisory experience
      • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive
      • Experience with ILS software

This year-round, full-time position serves as second in charge of the Adult & Teen Services Department and leads the department in the absence of the Manager. Hourly pay is from $28.49, depending on qualifications. Benefits include enrollment in the IMRF pension system, vacation leave, personal leave, and sick leave. 

The Assistant Manager will be scheduled for Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 9-5 p.m, Wednesday 1-9:15 p.m., and weekend and Friday night rotations. Adult & Teen Services Librarian

Are you enthusiastic about library collections, programs, and services? The Adult & Teen Services Department is looking for you! We are committed to creating and supporting an equitable, diverse, inclusive, and anti-racist workforce and sustaining an environment that is welcoming to all.

The Adult & Teen Services Librarian, an integral part of our Adult & Teen Services team, is primarily responsible for providing reference and readers’ advisory service to the public along with collection development, programming, outreach, and other duties.

We are looking for candidates who will:

      • Provide excellent reference and readers’ advisory services to adults and teens in a busy environment
      • Create and implement innovative services and programs
      • Plan and provide outreach services for a wide range of community members
      • Assist the public in using technology, including downloading ebooks to digital devices
      • Be familiar with current practices in and able to perform collection development and management
      • Work well as part of a team as well as independently
      • Support equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in the workplace

Qualifications: 

      • Expertise typically acquired through completion of a Master’s Degree in Library & Information Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience
      • One year of relevant customer service experience
      • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive
      • Experience with ILS software preferred

This is a year-round, part-time position averaging 24 hours per week. The Librarian will be scheduled for Tuesday and Friday 9-5 p.m., Wednesday 1-9:15 p.m., and weekend and Friday night rotations. Hourly pay is from $24.90, depending on qualifications and experience. Benefits include enrollment in the IMRF pension system, vacation leave, personal leave, and sick leave.
