Under the new Strategic Plan 2017 – 2020, four focus areas will guide our service to you. Designated action items fall within the following themes:
Our actions will reinforce the library’s long-standing history of stellar customer service, excellence in library services, and financial stewardship. Evaluation of data and utilization of new tools will aid in creating robust collections and resources to meet your diverse needs. Removing physical and procedural barriers to service will enhance the customer experience.
Staff will share their expertise and communicate the library’s value. We’ll support civic engagement and form partnerships with local organizations and government agencies. We’ll provide community members opportunities to connect with one another while creating opportunities for connections among organizations as well.
The library is the center of lifelong learning in the community—and we’ll strengthen that by encouraging the literacies needed to navigate today’s world. We will connect people to arts and cultural experiences that embrace equity, diversity, and inclusion. From babies to seniors, all will enjoy the chance to grow and learn using library services.
We will provide for the changes needed to keep up with Downers Grove by planning for the future and the facility. To do this, we’ll support innovation, reflect diversity, and solicit feedback from residents. Open communication and projection initiatives will ensure that the library is meeting community needs today and is preparing to deliver exceptional service for years to come.
