Foundation Revitalizes Its Efforts

Multiple community members are working to amp up the Downers Grove Public Library Foundation—a 501(c)(3) non-profit since 2006—and its fundraising efforts.

The Foundation provides extraordinary gifts, such as our permanent art collection, beyond traditional taxpayer support. It works to inspire and engage ideas and conversation. Recent gifts include John McDavitt’s mural in the Kids Room and new book club bags for book discussion groups in our community. The Foundation’s Garden Walk Brick Program continues to be a popular way for families and organizations to honor their own legacies with inscriptions while supporting the library.

In addition to these projects, the Foundation has also added new members and written updated goals. Thank you to the following for volunteering your time and enthusiasm: Missy Hansen, Andrea Knudsen, Jenny Levine, Kate Magnusson, Kathleen March, Marge Mark, Jillian Mikrut, Genene Murphy, Ed Pawlak, Robin Tryloff, and Krista Varsbergs. Serving as founding members of the newly formed Foundation Emeritus Board are long-time library supporters John Mochel and Tom Read.
